About this project
Depression Research is an open, citation-transparent attempt to map the full web of causes of depression, find where they converge, and ask — honestly — how to prevent and heal it.
Why
Depression is rising while the old "chemical imbalance" story has collapsed. The real picture is a tangle of interacting causes usually studied in isolation. This project treats them as one system (an exposome), grades the evidence, and publishes everything for reuse.
Principles
- Follow the evidence — keep theories open, but correct beliefs it contradicts.
- Separate association from causation.
- Be reproducible — publish data, sources and methods.
- No hype — flag risks and what isn't proven.
How it was built
Compiled with AI assistance (Objektiv AI · Claude, Anthropic) from open, peer-reviewed literature, then graded and synthesised. See Methodology, Frontiers and Sources.
A note on safety. This is a research synthesis, not medical advice. If you are struggling, please contact a qualified professional or a local crisis line — and if you're in immediate danger, your local emergency number.
